Plugin development Tutoriales

Recompile an old 1.8.2 plugin under AMXX 1.10: fix the new compiler warnings, replace removed modules like dbi, and adopt 1.9+ natives safely.

Turn VS Code into a real AMXX editor: Pawn syntax highlighting, include-aware navigation, and a build task that runs amxxpc and jumps to the failing line. Config included.

Turn on plugin debug mode for line numbers in run-time errors, use server_print and log_amx to trace state, and read the AMXX logs to find the real fault.

amxxpc turns Pawn source into the .amxx bytecode the server loads. How to compile locally on Linux and Windows, read the errors, target the right AMXX version, and install the result.

Precache models, sounds, sprites and generic files in plugin_precache, understand the path rules, and avoid the precache overflow that crashes map load.

A complete, working first plugin: register a chat command that reports a player's health, compiled and installed step by step. Real Pawn, not pseudocode.

Build interactive menus with menu_create, menu_additem and menu_display, handle selections and paging, and destroy menus so they do not leak.

Pawn is not C, and the differences bite: no real strings, one numeric type with tags, and forwards instead of a main(). A concise, correct primer for admins writing their first AMXX plugin.

Use SQL_ThreadQuery to run MySQL queries off the main thread so a slow database never stalls the game, with correct handle lifetime and error handling.

ReAPI exposes ReGameDLL and ReHLDS internals to AMXX with named hook chains, get_member/set_member, and high-level rg_ natives. Requires ReGameDLL.

Hook the game DLL's virtual functions with RegisterHam, read and modify parameters, block calls with HAM_SUPERCEDE, and use pre versus post correctly.

Design a real VIP plugin for AMX Mod X: gate benefits behind an admin flag, give spawn bonuses, add a /vip menu, and store expiring VIP in MySQL with threaded SQLx queries.
